Often known as the "Bell-Jets", the Bellingham Jets formed in 1963 as an independent before joining the North Pacific Football League for the 1964 season.  Bob Mitton scored on a 7-yard sweep to lift Bellingham to a 6-0 victory over the 1963 University of British Columbia junior varsity team.

Midway through the 1964 season, the Jets were forced to forfeit their Oct 11th game in Spokane when injuries reduced the active roster to a dangerous low.  Regrouping for a game with the Cavaliers the following week, the Jets were forced to drop out of the Nor-Pac League and finish out as an independent where they could.

Returning to the field in 1965, defense was a problem when facing Nor-Pac competition.  Steve Duppenthaler would score the only points in a blow-out loss to the Portland Thunderbirds on a 94-yard kickoff return.

After being smashed the Tacoma Tyees in September 49-6, the Jets faced a depleted November Tyee team and quickly regretting a decision to go easy on the 15 Tacomans who made the trip to Bellingham.  Agreeing to cut the final 2-quarters of the game to 12-minutes each, the Jets were just starting to click but ran out of time in a 7-6 loss.  Dick Tuttle (linebacker), Ron Smith (defensive end), Steve Winterburn (center and linebacker) and Mike Patterson (running back) were selected as NPFL All-Stars tasked with taking on the league champion Edmonds Warriors.

After three years of financial and roster instability, the Bell-Jets franchise came to a close prior to the 1966 season.
