JACKIE TRIPLETT Defensive End - Outside Linebacker King County Jaguars / Eastside Hawks / West Sound Saints / Seattle Stallions / South Sound Shockers / Puyallup Nation Kings / Seattle Bombers 2003 - 2021 Genetically gifted and always in tremendous shape, "Trip" roamed in the backfields of opposing offenses for nearly a decade and a half all after serving in the United States Marine Corps during the mid 1990's. Getting his start with the King County Jaguars he caught the eye of the Eastside Hawks during their battle for the Northwest League Championship won by the Hawks. The following season, he was with the Hawks as they claimed the Northwest League and North American League titles as well as the American Football Assocation National Championship. A Greenville, Mississippi native, Jackie Triplett owns the Northwest career sack record with 188.5, is third all-time with 25 sacks in a season, and tied for third and fourth with 6 and 5 sacks in a game respectively. Over his career, Jackie posted over 20 sacks in a season six times, topped with his 25 as a West Sound Saint in 2004 and 23 as a South Sound Shocker in 2007. That same season as a Shocker, Triplett recovered a record-tying 5 fumbles in the season. Between 2006 and 2007, Triplett also blocked eight punts, something he was regularly doing his entire career. Blessed with explosive speed off the edge, the reportedly "undersized" defensive end, Jackie hovered around 195 lbs at his best, was too quick for offensive tackles to handle and was often nearly taking handoffs or tackling quarterbacks before they finished their pass drop. Following his record-setting 2007 season with the Shockers and later that summer with the Seattle Stallions where he played in 2006, Shocker teammate John Stewart accepted a coaching job at Dakota State College in Madison, South Dakota and one of his first recruits was Triplett. Having never enrolled in college, Trip had all of his eligibility and after arriving on campus, coaches tabbed him as a freshman starting linebacker at the age of 40. During the first game of 2007, a Trojan teammate rolled up on his legs from behind fracturing his leg and ending his season, forcing him into a redshirt year. In 2008, Triplett led the Trojans with 10 tackles against South Dakota School of Mines, racking up 48 total tackles on the season with a blocked punt. Jackie returned to the Stallions in 2009 and continued his tear through the semi-pro record books culminating with a GNFA Player of the Year honor in 2013 as the now 43-year-old recorded 13 sacks helping the Stallions to the Pacific Football League semi-finals as a first-year member and setting the semi-pro National career sack record with 162. As a 51-year old, Triplett cleated up one last time with the Seattle Bombers as the new franchise tried to get going during the Covid Lockdowns for the 2020-2021 seasons. A mentor for the new blood of semi-pro players, when Trip hung up the gear, he was still quick and he was still dangerous to opposing quarterbacks. The multi-time champion and all-league performer has set a career sack record not likely to be broken anytime soon.
