The Wolfpack was born out of the merger of longtime
rivals in the State
Line Miners and
Spokane SaberCats. Almost
immediately the Wolfpack became a force in the WFL and after a couple of
stumbles, reached the first-ever WFL Championship losing a tight battle
with the Rams 14-7.
Looking to build on the WFL Championship game run
of 2009 the Wolfpack looked shaky in an early game losing to the
Thunder, but came back to dispatch the Riverhawks and Shockers.
Back-to-back losses to the Rams and Commandos set a theme in the WFL as
teams played round robin winning against each other and it wasn't until
the final week that Spokane earned enough points for a #4 seed in the
WFL playoffs. The game would be a rematch from the season finale
and Spokane battled the Hurricanes for 4 quarters unable to score in the
second half of a 13-19 playoff loss that sent Hermiston to the
championship and Spokane home for the summer.

Following back-to-back four-win seasons in 2018 and 2019, Spokane
suffered through the Covid-era lockdowns in Washington with no season in
2020 and only getting in one game as an independent franchise in 2021.
Winning that game against the Everett Royals, Spokane endured a similar
fate as a planned member of the 2022 Washington State League, however,
with the formation of the Gridiron Development League in Tacoma, the
Wolfpack stood alone in the WSFL to start the season. Opting for
another independent status, the Wolfpack trudged through a 1-4 campaign.
The Wolfpack was granted membership in the GDFL for the 2023 season. |
